Particular interest will be on a lawn bowler from the Waikanae Bowling Club, Jane Parsons. Jane is totally blind and was a bronze medalist in the Blind World Cycling Championships last year. A back injury has curtailed her participation in cycling and she has now taken to blind lawn bowls with a vengeance.
The National Championships is at the Petone Central club from Monday 2nd until Thursday 5th December. This event will have thirty bowlers and their directors from all over the North Island. The critical aspect about this National Championship is that all players have some form of visual impairment and they all have a director with them to guide and support them playing their sport.
